We finally got the renovations done at the farm! This is my homestead. This farm has been in my family since the 1800's. It was originally a Dairy, but I did some major renovations and converted it for horses. I also took the slaughter house portion of the property and made it into an indoor arena. The house has 4 bedrooms/2 baths. It's a real mess in there since it's been vacant for awhile, but once I get it fixed up I'll show you inside. Here's the barn! Entrance Pasture with run in shed. Gate to indoor arena and wash stalls in background. Round pen! Outdoor wash stalls Indoor Wash Stalls South Stalls North Stalls Feed Room Tack Room Outdoor Arena Indoor Arena The House Everything is kinda bare right now. I didn't get a pic of the west stalls yet, but there are 8 stalls in all. I'll be decorating soon. My other barns are getting a facelift too. My Grandparents owned the whole island, so there are lots of barns and a few houses left to renovate.

Well, I'm working on my first world. It's a winter world (terrain paint) and I made it from scratch. Special thanks to those who helped me iron out the kinks in the CAW program. It's a small island with about 12 large lots and some smaller ones. It has a small downtown, airport, waterfall etc... I'm not done placing the lots or decorating so you won't see too much of it yet. As I finish areas, I will post pictures. I'm proud of it for being my first attempt. CAW is definitely not an easy tool to use. As I get better, I will make more detailed worlds and release them for everyone to download. CAW is a huge time consumer. Anyway, meet our new employee. Malachi Causey. He's a horse whisperer from Nunavut. He flew in with his two horses, an Arab and a Rocky Mountain stallion. They had to stop at the sorting station to see the vet and get the proper vaccinations, which they were behind on. When horses come to Appalachian Island, they must be properly quarantined, vaccinated and vet checked before they're allowed to proceed from the airport. Malachi and his stallions walking from the terminal to the quarantine station. Captain waiting in an exam stall to see the vet. Blue all vaccinated and waiting in a stall to be released. All in the clear! Malachi only came with the clothes on his back and his horses' tack, so he doesn't have money to rent a trailer. He will ride to North Shore Stables! Welcome Malachi! We're excited to have you on our team!

Today we finished construction on the lesson barn's outdoor arena. I was going to put windows, but then thought it would be better nice and airy. Not too much snow has blown in so far. We can always plough it out if need be. This is my new colt Dakota AKA SRA Dance In The Dark! I bought him from Spring Ridge Acres. He's going to be a stud and show horse. He's super docile and the kids are having a lot of fun with him. Two of the kids exercising the ponies after school. Dakota, Patty 7 Gertrude pigging out. Our oh so popular wild horse "Ugly Gus" making faces as usual. He's a favorite among the students. Hanson Laughing Forks taking a drink after her ride. Better picture of Gertrude. She was captured with Gus by White Hill Manor from a herd of wild horses. As you can see, she's in rough shape, and was worse when we got her. She eats none stop. She had some nasty parasites and was infected with lice which caused her to rub her mane out. She's quite old, the vet thinks about 20 yrs. At least now she's well enough to be in with the other horses. Gus is working full time as a lesson horse, and he and Gertrude are almost inseperable, which is why she's at the lesson barn. She was captured with old shoes on, which had grown right into her hoof so she was obviously ridden or driven at one time. She's no longer lame, so hopefully we'll be able to back her when she get's in better condition.

Forgot to add. I got a Cat!! Her name is Jinx and I got her from Spring Ridge Acres! She's a Maine Coon and my first cat. I absolutely adore her. She comes and sleeps on my bed at night and keep me company when I'm doing barn chores.

There's a new boy in town! This is NSS Nuage De Feux (Fire Cloud) named after a real Canadian Sport Horse I use to ride. I love this breed and got excited when I saw another playing with them. They are wonderful horses and excel in pretty much everything! We have a lot of Canadian Sport Horses around here IRL. I'll be creating some more down the road, and maybe having a foal crop depending on the interest that's shown. This breed is accepted by every Association except racing of course. Hanging with friends!

I so neglect my scrapbook on here. TONS of pictures posted on Equus though. Here are some from today. Liam & I went to a Hunter show with the Canadians! They did awesome for their first show! They handled the crowds well. Maybeline is a bit spooky, not sure of strangers or other horses, but I'm pretty sure with some more desensitizing she'll come around. Nate on the other hand, is a big puppy who was trying to get treats and attention from EVERYONE! After the show, when everyone was gone I let them loose. Mabel went to investigate the waterfall. Liam tightening his saddle. Best friends Yesterday I asked Malachi to ride Darcy into town to pay some bills. Malachi wasn't very confident that Darcy would be bombproof around traffic, even though I reassured him a million times.
