End: February 1st!WELCOME TO THE 1ST CUTTING COMPETITION AT DROVERS! IntroThe sport originated from cattle ranches in the American West, where it was the cutting horse's job to separate cattle from the herd for vaccinating, castrating, and sorting. Eventually competitions arose between the best cutting horses and riders in the area. In 1898 the first cutting horse competition was held in Haskell, Texas. With the growth of such cutting horse contests, a group of owners decided to form an organization to establish a universal set of rules and regulations. As a result, in 1946 the National Cutting Horse Association was founded.[2] Today, cutting is a fast-growing equine sport. In 2006, the contestants at the United States NCHA Futurity competed for more than $3.7 million—over a hundred times the offering of the first year. Total purses at NCHA-approved shows alone now exceed $39 million annually. Additional prize money is distributed at Australian Cutting Horse Association, American Cutting Horse Association, single-breed shows, European and Canadian events. Classes1. I will enter a few, don't worry! I just have little "entering the last minute" tendency as you've probably noticed...

Curious as to if there is a breed limitation to this?

Nichole, I don't think there is, but the pretty much required cow sense for event like this, is something that only stock horses tend to have. You can't really make believable cutter out of breed that doesn't have stock/ranch work roots. I'd say good examples would be drafts and warmbloods, they're not something to consider as possibilities when talking about cutting horses or true ranch work horses for that matter.
If you're into cow disciplines, you'll need stock horse to do those with.

**Admin Cleaned Thread**
If you want to enter a breed of horse in a competition, then find a competition where that breed of horse is listed If the breed of horse is not listed that you want to compete with, do not enter it and wait for another competition or start your own
Keep it clean, happy and healthy everyone please
